Praise the Lord! We made it to the last day of our cabbage soup diet. This was the longest week ever. We didn't think we would make it through. In fact, our friends didn't have faith in us and thought we would not last this long.
The seventh day is Brown Rice, unsweetened juice and vegetables. We had to eat the soup at least once this day. Breakfast and lunch were the last of the cabbage soup.
Sandi bought some brown rice at Pei Wei, she thought it might taste better than if she had to cook it herself. She had a ton of vegetables but didn't know what to do with them. There's only so much you can do. We ended up steaming it first and frying them in a pan with Pam. We added seasoned salt, pepper and she threw in some chili flakes.
This looked better than it tasted. We kept imagining we were eating steak in between bites of the vegetables and rice. Veggies are really boring especially if you are eating them with no bacon, any meat or fat. I don't think I can ever be a vegetarian and I don't know how they do it. The rice was good to chew, again we had to pretend we were eating white rice. It had no flavor at all so we added some of the cabbage soup sauce to it.
Tomorrow is the beginning of a new day. It will be a day of regular food, coffee, wine and champagne and yes....dessert. Sandi and I decided we would try and watch what we eat. We will try to stay away from bread; maybe eat pasta only once a week. If we order fries, we will split an order. In other words we will try not to go back to our old eating habits.
Meantime, on my free time this afternoon, I decided to make use of the lemons I got from Sandi. I made a Lemon Bread which I am proud to say, was not touched today. It is for our celebration tomorrow. The glaze is made out of lots of lemon rind, lemon juice, sugar and Ana's homemade Limoncello!
We will weigh ourselves tomorrow morning and will do another blog on the results of this painful diet.
