Dinner at a Friend's House

Another invitation at a friend's house while my mom is still here on vacation.  My friend has had this ham in her freezer and she's been wanting to cook it but never got around it.  Two nights ago was the premier for her "Pineapple Brown Sugar Ham'.

The ham was delicious and the sauce made it even more edible. You will see on my plate the chunks of pineapple swimming in a pool of maple syrup, and brown sugar. The sweetness of the syrup and sugar complemented the salty ham quite well. She served the ham with an experimental Crispy Basmati Rice which we thought would be better if left the way God intended rice to be....soft; not crispy. Brussels Sprouts with pancetta made everything even more interesting. That was not enough so she had to serve some cole slaw which we also loved. Dinner was delicious.

She served Apple Pie in a Brown Paper Bag. It is called that because it was really baked inside a brown paper bag. I didn't witness this but she swore she baked it that way without having to call the Fire Department. It was delicious served over swirls of chocolate which I thought was the design of her plate, and a scoop of ice cream.

We left her house fully stuffed just like an overstuffed pillow!  Thanks to Sandi once more.
