Day 1 of Our Semi Diet

Sandi invited me over for a fish dinner at her house a few days ago. We decided to go on a week long diet of no carbohydrates.........not entirely though. This diet is an experiment. We would refrain from bread, pasta and potatoes.  Since Easter Sunday will fall on the same week, we agreed to make an exception; that would be the one day we could eat whatever we wanted.

We started with a healthy salad that was good. We skipped the appetizers she normally would have served. Oh, alcohol is not part of the diet. We had champagne with our meal of Tilapia and Brussels sprouts. She seasoned the Tilapia with soy sauce, rice vinegar and some sesame seeds then baked them. The Brussels sprouts were shredded and seasoned the same way as the fish but had a bonus of crumbled bacon. It was a delicious dinner.

For dessert, she served a bowl of yogurt with blueberries and raspberries. She added some crumbled "slim brownies". I didn't know at the time what they were called. Apparently they are low in calories. The blueberries were sour and the yogurt was even more sour. I was not exaggerating when I closed my eyes and made a funny sound; Sandi had a bite and thought the same thing. She had some left over crumbled bacon by the stove so I took some and sprinkled them over the sour yogurt. That made it a bit more edible. BTW, sweets are not included in our diet; at least not yet. We will have to evaluate this experiment next week.
