The Original Chili Cheeze Bread

This Original Chili Cheeze Bread is from Erick Schat's Bakkery (this is not a typo, this is how it is spelled). For people that haven't heard of Schat's, I'm so sorry. They are known for their Sheepherders bread but has come a long way as they ventured to a variety of wonderful kinds of bread. They use waters from the well of the Sierras which may be their secret and only use fresh ingredients. The main store is located in Bishop, California. It has been there forever! They also have another location in Mammoth.

The bread is great especially when toasted. I like to add butter and jelly/jam. Amy had hers with just cream cheese. She didn't want to add anything sweet which was fine. I loved the buttery, cheesy bread which was spicy from the chili's, so a bit of currant jelly which was sweet and a bit tart was like a bomb that exploded in my mouth with all the different flavors. That with my cup of strong coffee with whipping cream was a perfect breakfast!

We also had another loaf which my son picked up on the way home from June Lake. The Apple Pullaway. That was also very good warmed up in the microwave with a cup of water in the oven so as not to dry the bread. That was dessert.

I looked at the website of Erick Schat's Bakkery and they do ship orders. They have a minimum order of $20 which is fine because you will probably want to order for friends.
